Don’t wait any longer and explore the program!
Message from Professor Eric Eeckhout
The final countdown to the Ultimate Edition of ECC has started! Please have a look at what’s in the program and in particular at the “atypical ECC lectures”. Indeed, we do not wish to overload you with values and Kaplan-Meier curves. There are plenty alternative meetings where interventional science is broadcasted.
The opening lecture will be given by Ing Haan Lim, the first interventional cardiologist to practice in Singapore! She will talk about the role of confidence and competence in the prevention and management of complications.
On Thursday, David Hildick-Smith and Kwan Lee will debate on the balance between ambition and talent in cardiology. What matters most? Do we need both? Is ambition part of talent? What are the particularities of interventional cardiology where ego is at risk?
An ECC farewell gathering will be held on Thursday afternoon. It will be a moment to review 26 years of ECC history with interventions of Alec Vahanian, Houng Bang Liew, Hellmuth Weich, Malcolm Bell and local Lausanne speakers. The session will end with a personal testimony by Eric Eeckhout.
We would like to ask your special attention on the Friday morning session on the relation between our industry partners and us. We are privileged to have Rob Ten Hoedt amongst us. Rob has been at the base of the Medtech regulations and is still chairman of the board of Medtech. As a member of Medtronic execute Committee he is one of key persons at the direction of one of the most important companies in the field of interventional cardiology. Rob comes back after 7 years to ECC where he clarified the rationale behind the Medtech regulations. David Kettles from South Africa will give a physician’s perspective.
The practice of interventional cardiology varies tremendously across continents. Lean about these differences, the challenges, the present and future of our professional across the globe with insights given by Jack Tan, David Hildick-Smith, Hellmuth Weich and Morton Kern.
The case review session are of course the essence of the congress. On Thursday, there will be the traditional session organized by the Swiss Working Group Interventional Cardiology and the current chairman Raban Jeger. The presenters have promised to share their worst career case ever. The same has been asked to our faculty members for the Friday afternoon final, ultimate case review session.
